My 2020 - 2024 Z1000SX ECU programming (Re-Flash) includes:


1) Fix all fueling problems inside the ECU.
(The ones that cannot be fixed with an external fuel tuner or other commercially available methods)

• All gear dependent maps fixed
• Main fuel tables (A/n) - adjusted specifically for your exhaust at all active throttle positions.
• Vacuum tables (MAP)- adjusted specifically for your exhaust in all active areas.
• Emissions compliant sub-routines that affect driveability - turned off.
• All system response delays (detuning items) - turned off.
• Acceleration enrichment thoroughly tested and re-adjusted for perfect response.
• Optimize injector timing for best power, response, mileage and combustion efficiency.
• Narrowband O2 sensor disabled - No need to unplug, or can be removed if desired.



2) Close AIS valve electronically

No need for block-off plates for air injection system
No popping on decel !!
No hoses to plug - Just plug in your ECU and go !!




3) Re-program Kawasaki ETV (Electronic Throttle Valve) in SPORT MODE for linear throttle opening
and remove power restrictions (Responds directly to your hand movements, and feels just like a cable throttle)


a) Allows all of the Z1000SX engine's available power - whenever you ask for it.
    All power restrictions are removed.

b) This allows a more sensitive throttle that is easy to control.

c) Response delay filters turned off - part of original detuning.

d) Allows full 100% throttle opening whenever you open the throttle, just like a cable throttle.

e) "RAIN" mode and "ROAD" mode throttle maps are left as original for less sensitive throttle and reduced power if needed.

f) Engine response feels immediate, light and rev-happy.

a) Engine stays running when the throttle is closed.
(with stock ECU programming, the injectors are not running when you decel)

b) Gets rid of poor, imprecise throttle transitions from closed throttle.

c) Eliminates feeling of driveline lash and jerky, delayed throttle response.

d) Changing gears is dramatically improved.
Without fuel cut disabled, "neutral throttle" is not possible, and you cannot take the
load off the transmission gears for easy shifting.

This is the direct cause of your touchy, jerky throttle because the engine isn't running during decel.

e) Dramatic improvement upon re-application from closed throttle (in all riding conditions).
(Throttle re-application response feels like our old carbureted bikes used to feel)

g) Gets rid of annoying popping and banging during decel and when re-applying the throttle from closed.


4) Cooling Fan comes on at 195 degrees and goes off at 186

a) Helps keep your engine cooler when you are stuck in traffic.


5) Complete custom re-curve of ignition timing


a) Set main timing tables for maximium power and driveability across the entire rpm range and all throttle positions.
This also helps provide better fuel economy, and less vibration when cruising and moderate acceleration.

b) All gear dependent maps equalized and adjusted for best power and fuel economy.
Adjust timing to be the same for all gears.

c) All emissions compliant /detuning sub-routines turned off.

d) Gets rid of part throttle timing retarder for more response and less vibration when cruising and moderate acceleration.

e) Gets rid of ignition timing issues that are unique to the Z1000SX.



Raise rev-limiter 500 rpm - Optional

This is optional, and can be left out if you prefer - just indicate it on my Z1000SX ETV ECU FORM when you send in your ECU.

• With my programming, the Z1000SX is still making good power until 11,000 rpm.
   (as can be seen in my dyno charts below.)

• Raising the limiter on this engine (500 rpm) up to 11,000 rpm allows the power to continue with my ecu programming.



6) Adjust Kawasaki ETV decel tables

Reduced heavy engine braking on decel.
More relaxed gear changes and throttle modulation at all speeds and across all modes.

10) Anything that compromises performance and/or driveability is eliminated.

All Stock 2020 - 2024 Z1000SX Ninja vs. Ivan's ECU programming w/stock exhaust






Adding a Full Akrapovic exhaust with the stock ECU - adds 12hp as claimed by Akrapovic

This adds some good power, but restrictions would still be in place, and driveability can be improved quite a bit.
